This weekend I went to HOBY.
It was great and terrible all at once.
I remembered why I volunteered (for the kids)
I remembered why I never want to go back (everything/one else)
I had 8 kids in my group this year.
They were OUTSTANDING.
All 8 of them were very quiet, very introspective kids.
But they were all leaders at their school.
They taught me more than I tought them.
It was great.
And then there was the no sleeping.
And this issues with my Junior Staff.
And the drama.
And the horrible food.
And the stupidity of the lack of cheer knowledge.
All the reasons I didn't want to come back.
But the Ambassadors and their learning and growing and stretching outweighed this.
Listening to inspiring people talk and watching my kids get inspired made this other stuff almost disappear.
I am so so so glad I went this weekend, even though it was far different from what I thought it was going to be.
